Precautionary Measures for the Workplace - Novel Coronavirus

The below was shared by Alex Lickerman, M.D. of ImagineMD

This note is being directed to all our employer contacts. Your employees and colleagues will look to you for leadership. We hope you find this information helpful as you communicate with them appropriately about what to do to stay healthy during a pandemic. We believe it's now time for all of us to be more aggressive in our communications to those that look up to us. Simple actions taken everyday can reduce the spread of this infection.

The fastest route of transmission is by touching contaminated surfaces and then touching your face. To flatten out the pandemic curve, we all need to take steps to slow the spread of the virus specifically so the healthcare system isn’t overwhelmed and those who need emergency care can still get it.

Our advice to you as business people: suggest anyone who has a compromised immune system work from home and self isolate now. Put disinfectant wipes everywhere and establish a policy that everyone washes their hands at the beginning of every day and throughout it as well AND wipes down their workstations (computer keyboards, mice, chairs, door knobs and light switches) at the beginning of every day. People should be strongly encouraged not to shake hands. Your population isn’t especially at risk, but everyone is a potential vector of viral spread.

Here are several thought leadership pieces about the coronavirus you may find helpful. We at ImagineMD will publish more as the situation evolves. Feel free to subscribe to our blog to be automatically notified about future posts.
